The Manager, Military & Veterans Relations (Veterans to College Program (V2C) is responsible for outreach efforts for Brandman University in the region or areas assigned. The incumbent builds positive awareness of the institution and the V2C program within appropriate government, military, and education communities, and is responsible for building and sustaining a strong pool of qualified prospective students. The coordinator works under general supervision and regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion in the execution of his/her duties. The incumbent collects data and performs statistical analysis and makes informed judgments and decisions based upon the data and other information.
This position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Military & Veterans Affairs, works closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Military Partnerships, the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and the Military Programs Department Program Manager and is held accountable for weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance goals. Goals include, but are not limited to: participation on work groups and planning sessions, program research, contacts with military and veterans groups and veterans administration leadership, creating opportunities for site visits, participating in career and education fairs, program presentations, contacting potential students, counseling interested students.
Essential functions:
Outreach (85% of time)
- Contact and promote academic programs with military and veterans administration leadership, and other potential feeder programs.
- Develop, coordinate and conduct presentations to groups of military personnel, veterans and other prospective students eligible to participate in all related academic programs.
- Provide general information about Brandman programs, admission requirements, and distribute marketing and application materials and counseling contacts to leadership and students.
- Provide initial counseling, in person or at a distance, for students interested in the program, and then refer students to main campus Inside Track counseling. Provide follow up counseling as needed.
- Provide counseling and follow-on counseling for the mentoring, portfolio and cohorting programs developed to enhance retention of students in the program.
- Work with staff to develop focused marketing materials used to support expansion of the program.
- Attend and represent the University, and staff booths and tables at applicable education and career fairs.
- Assist the University with recommendations for promotion of the program in specific locales.
- Analyze and resolve complex, sensitive student issues associated with program requirements.
- Identify creative solutions to enhance the student’s overall educational experience.
Planning and Organization (15% of time)
- Work directly with the Director, Military & Veterans Relations to determine target audiences to develop strategically focused marketing plans for veterans.
- Analyze statistical data in order to enhance recruitment strategies and provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports of actual performance versus targets.
- Plan and organize objectives to enhance enrollments through targeted marketing processes.
- Proactively follow up with prospects/leads by telephone, email and snail-mail.
- Arrange and reconcile program-related travel through the Military Programs Office.
- Prepare summary analyses, evaluations, and recommendations.
- Provide monthly reports on (list is not all inclusive) on travel, contacts, enrollments and retention of students.
- Develop outreach support and retention services for academic programs within the program.
