Special Conditions of Employment: Need valid driver's license and vehicle for travel. May be required to travel overnight. Previous Experience:
Required:
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Employee Relations Specialist with preference to experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience in addressing problems, defining relevant issues, drawing sound conclusions, and making responsible recommendations.
- High level of understanding of the relevant federal and state laws regarding employment, harassment prevention, and human resources; ability to articulate these to a wide constituency.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills; excellent phone presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines.
- Political sensitivity and ability to interact with diverse groups and individuals at all organizational levels.
- Excellent problem solving, decision making, and organizing skills with the ability to prioritize a heavy workload under pressure and competing assignments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Substantial experience in an academic environment.
- Experience in conflict resolution and consensus building.
- Knowledge of Brandman University policies and procedures
- Employee law or labor law background helpful.
Knowledge and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
- Knowledge of Federal and State laws with regard to employment in California and Washington (state).
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: Demonstrated experience with office machinery, including computers and associated software applications. Customary office machines including fax, telephone, copier, and printers.
